Antique Respiration Gas Breathing Mask Leather Pat No Odd Unique. I tried to research this mask, but I could not find another one like it or any information on it. It has a leather skin with a “windshield” style insert to see through. The elastic and canvas/fabric holds the mask to the face. There is a hole that is stuffed with a sponge material. I’m not sure if a hose once attached to that area or if the sponge was the only “filter” for the mask. There is also a Patent number of 01736 Sept. 1’86 stamped in the leather. Could be 1886, but the early Patent number suggests it could be as early as 1776. The last picture shows a similar patent that I found online that “may” portray how it was intended to be used. Mask was most likely designed for firefighters/firemen. Please see photos for best idea of condition. All items come from a smoke free/pet friendly home. I had two of these. This is the last one I have.

Vintage MSA Firemans’ helmet & Scott oxygen mask/respirator. Not sure how old the helmet is, but from the materials used, construction and MSA size sticker, I’d say pretty old. 50’s, 60’s maybe? Helmet is a size 7-1/8 and includes original sweatband, chin strap, zip-in/zip-out fold down ear protection. Helmet has some overall wear from storage and handle, but looks unused. Sweatband, chin strap and ear flaps are in excellent condition. Scott ATO oxygen mask/respirator is also in excellent/unused condition. Mask has tube connector for connecting firefighters oxygen tank. Rubber is in excellent condition and still very supple/pliable. Mask visor is nice and clear with very little wear. I carefully package my items to insure they make it as described. Tape, boxes packing material do cost something. Many of my packages must also be custom created for the various odd dimensional profiles of the items I sell. Decide which one you want at checkout. Most items come from a smoker environment, but it is more likely the packing material will smell of smoke than the item. Get rid of the packing and you should be fine. If smell is a deal breaker for you keep in mind many of my items come from attics, garages, barns, basements and everywhere else, so you may need some Febreze. With the fore mentioned in mind, my items may. Dirt, grease, oil, rust, dander or other forms of filth on them. I do my best to clean things up, but some things are inherently unkempt. If you are the same person reaching for the Febreze, you may want to grab your scrubby brush too. My inventory is constantly changing so check my other auctions for more cool stuff!
