RARE SOVIET HORSE GAS MASK / RESPIRATOR WITH BOX WWII / COLD WAR CAVALRY ORIGINAL. Status as on pictures. This is a very rare nice original relic WWII / Cold War Soviet Red horse gas mask / respirator + goggles with wooden box (Box size: 300mm x 300mm x 200mm) Never used. This horse gas mask is very similar in design to the WWII version, probably used also at the end of WWII. Like most horse respirators, this mask was probably used in conjunction with a gas proof cape and leggings. The mask fit over the horse’s snout, and was then strapped to the animal’s head via a series of belts. Used by Soviet / Red Army Cavalry soldier during WWII / Cold War. Mask is stamped insize with barely visible MON stamp what stands for Ministry of Defense of Polish Army. They were also used by Hungarian Army and probably any other country that same like Poland didn’t had their own horse masks. Anyway soviet WW2 horse masks were similar in shape, same grey color(other variant were also made from light brown rubberized canvas), also two filters, one on each side, and same exhale valve cover. When Polish People’s Army canceled all horse army combat units in 1949 it was matter of months or a few years that no horse gas masks will be needed in Polish Army but even then all orders of gas masks import were finalized so very few horse masks that have been bought left (some still untouched) in military stocks and in 50’s or 60’s were given to Civilian Defense. It’s great item for every display. Perfect item for every gas mask collector, cavalary enthusiast and reenactor or miltary museum! In kit You will receive as pictured. Horse gas mask with filters.
