&####127482;&####127480; United States Low-Maintenance Full-Face Respirator Advantage 1000 dated the first week of June 1994 by MSA lot 7-1293-1 size Medium. The Advantage 1000 Respirator was developed in the 1990’s as a Commercial/Civilian Version of the Navy’s and Air Forces MCU-2/P Chemical Biological Protective Mask. The Advantage Mask was very similar to the MCU, albeit differing in the material of Rubber used, Sillicone on the MCU and Hycar Nitrile on the Advantage. The Advantage also features a frontal Voicemitter similar to that of the MCU and the M40, but lacks a secondary voicemitter assembly in favor of a dual Bayonet port system for Canisters. The outlet assembly of the Advantage is found on the chin of the mask and is covered by a standard black plastic cover found on many MSA style industrial masks. The Advantage is normally found in a black Hycar rubber, but on extremely scarce occasions the Advantage can be found in a Beige/Tan Color, with these showing minimal changes to the design in general, albeit being in absolutely abhorrent quality, leading to poor sales and ultimately ending production in the 2000’s.
