The boxless filter gas mask (PBF “Hamster”) is designed to protect the face, eyes, respiratory system from biological aerosols, chemical warfare agents, toxic chemicals and dust, including radioactive. The absence of protruding parts and small dimensions make the gas mask very convenient when running, parachuting and shooting. It was adopted by the Soviet Army in 1973. It was decommissioned in 2000. It is most often used by paratroopers, tankers, field intelligence units, and command personnel. Nicknamed “hamster” by the military. The helmet-mask of the SMB consists of a body with two pockets, a spectacled node, a collapsible intercom device, a valve box and a screen. The intercom and the valve box with two mushroom valves are made in a single unit and closed with a removable screen. The helmet-mask of the SMB is rubber, can be white and black. The black mask is more elastic, therefore it is easier to put on. The podmasochnik is made of rubber, has two valves, inhales, is attached to a valve-intercom device, as well as with the help of a cufflink molded on it – in the podmasochny part of the case and two plastic cufflinks – to the inner walls of the pockets. Because of these pockets, which look like swollen cheeks from the outside, PBF got the nickname “hamster”. The inner walls of the pockets in combination with the under-mask and the front wall of the mask part form fairings through which the air purified in the elements enters the eyeglass node. The frontal location and dimensions of the glasses of the eyeglass unit provide the ability to work with optical devices. The mask has 5 sizes: from the 0th to the 4th.
