Genuine single port LEFT HANDED FM12 gas mask respirator. Size 2
Genuine size 2 British police issue FM12, single port version. Overall good condition but some have the inner drinking straws cut down (this doesn’t affect use), some headharnesses are also showing some wear. British S6 Gas Mask with Filter and Bag. This is a rare left hand version of the mask with the filter mounted on the opposite side of the face piece. These were made to allow left handed soldiers to be able to shoulder their weapon while wearing the mask. Relatively early production date of 1972, made by Leyland & Birmingham Rubber Company. The S6 was used by British armed forces from the late 1960s into the late 1980s. This type of mask was made famous through its use by the SAS during Operation Nimrod (the Iranian Embassy Siege). Condition of the mask is good overall. The rubber is supple and there are no tears or perishing. The rear straps still function, but there is some light surface corrosion on the metal fittings of the strap. The lens are clear and unscratched. The bag is in well worn condition, with several relatively faint stains, but no holes or substantial damage.
